Parford Well B&B Recuperator of Spirits, Near Chagford, DevonRising a few minutes earlier today, at 06.55, from a very busy night. Some of the adventures wee on the road. Finally, rising with relief from being pursued by a Bad Guy in Mexico. What? No idea where all this came from, but it didn’t seem to be from my own dream-repertoire. Bad Guys in the music industry – now, that’s in the repertoire.
Tasty breakfast of the exceptionally tasty kind. Loading the car, bidding farewell to Tim & Parford Well B&B El Fabbo.

Super Audio Mastering, Monks Withecombe, Chagford, DartmoorEvent of the day: a Bad Fairy is about to be very bad to poor
Sleeping Beauty.
Arriving 10.02…
… and a through-listen to Pie Jesu and then Black Light.
We have found our overall approach. A live recording of a string orchestra carries its own perils – ambient noise, audient coughing – with a balance to be found between life & precision, maintaining the warmth of natural instruments while minimising lotsa hiss.
11.12 Miserere Mei – stunning.
11.46 Requiescat. Ace.
12.37 The second Pie Jesu is vibrated & re-ordered, exchanging places as opener & closer with the other version of Pie Jesu.
Fripp, Keeling & Singleton have two points in common that conceptually determine this music and what it is. The first is a deep & instinctive sense of England & what it is to be English; the second is a background in the Anglican church: Fripp as server in Holy Communion & considered by the Rev. Stanley Epps as a prospective vicar;
Andrew as chorister; David with a Father now ordained, formerly a headmaster who instilled a particular form of Christian values in his students & family. Secular Christianity + England = the English gentleman. Gentility is not something that can be claimed for oneself but, if lived & exemplified, it may be recognized; it is not acquired by social posturing & positioning, reinforced by income streams.
Through-listen of OrchScapes underway.
13.51 Done & stunning. To lunch.
14.35 Jakko’s alternative mixes for JFC is our afternoon’s work.
Alt The Light Of Day, a very different approach, now werned & twerned.
Alt A Scarcity Of Miracles underway.
16.17 The Minx has called – blizzarding in Malvern is underway, and the temperature has fallen suddenly. She is concerned her husband takes especial care home-driving this evening.
Now, alt The Price We Pay.
17.16 Alt The Other Man.
Our alts are now tickled for stereo, further sonic tweaks to follow.
17.36 Done. Onto the road.
20.45 Bredonborough.
The road south…
The road home…
The blizzard has not yet arrived here, and the worse driving conditions (sleet) from SAM for 3 miles. Then, the weather was fine.
Arrived & unpacked, WillyFred is pleased to have company. Practicing ahead until Bad Fairy Willcox arrives home c. 22.30.
